Introduction
PLC’s usually misbehave and run into minor problems minor when during runtime and sometimes Sometimes, a simple reboot may be all that is needed to resolve such a minor issue. Communication implementations including Modbus, GSM and other serial communications usually fail some times due to many factors such as bus and GSM network and require reinitialization to come back online
Usually, rebooting the PLC during runtime may be done by cutting of the power supply and connecting back, or from a physical restart button located on the controller, or even from PLC visual environment such as a Web based management environment (Wago PLC’s 750 series)
However, if one does not have direct physical access to the controller, this may not be possible. One of the common implementations is to restart the controller periodically (daily , weekly, month or hourly)
